Narasimha Jayanthi 2022
Vaishakha month is occasioned by spiritual and traditional customs. Lord Vishnu is worshipped for the entire month. Narasimha Navaratri is from Vaishakha Shukla Shashti to Vaishaka Shukla Chaturdasi i.e. 7/5/22 to 14/5/22.
There are two familiar Solar and Lunar Dynasties. Kashyap Rishi was born in Solar Dynasty and he is the son of Marichi Rishi and Mother Kala. He is one of the Saptha Rishis in Rishi Mandal. He is married to Daksha Prajapati’s daughters namely Aditi, Diti, kadruva, Vinatha, Surabhi, and so on.
Aditi and Kashyap rushi got a son named Aditya (Lord Surya) and Gods. Diti gave birth to demons, Kadru gave birth to serpents and Vinatha gave birth to eagles. Kashyap Rishi and Diti got two demon sons by name Hiranyakash and Hirankashyap who are Jay, Vijay as Dwarapalaka at Vaikuntham the abode of Lord Vishnu. They were cursed and born as demons. But they are devotees of Lord Brahma and enemies of Lord Vishnu. They are highly spiritual and performed penance to achieve their goals to defeat all gods to occupy their abode. In each and every Yug Lord Vishnu incarnated in many forms to uphold Dharma by killing demons.
The third incarnation is Varaha Avatar. Hirayanyaksh stole four Vedas and kept them under Sea. Then Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Simha Swamy uplifted Earth and killed demon Hiranyakash, elder brother of Hiryankashyap, and brought up again Chaturvedas to mankind. In Andhra Pradesh, India there is a temple famous as Antharvedi wherein Vedas were brought up from River Godavari merges with the Bay of Bengal Sea.
This is the place where Vedas were kept under this Sea known as Antharvedi in West Godavari District and famous as Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy with Goddess Rajalakshmi Devi. He is worshipped to retain and conquer pride and Kingdom. Nowadays it is for power, position, and politics.
The Demon Hiranyankashap developed hatred towards Lord Vishnu for killing his elder brother, he started penance for Lord Brahma to gain and conquer Vaikuntham to take revenge on Vishnu. He is married to Kayadu and got sons by the name Prahlada, Samhida, Anublada, Shivi, and Vashkala, and a daughter Sinhika. The elder son Prahalad is a devotee of Lord Vishnu and he always chants Narayana. Mantra.
Angered by it he was convinced several times to stop chanting the Narayan mantra. But he refused to stop chanting. Prahalad was ill-treated by his father repeatedly. He was thrown into the water, he was saved by Lord Vishnu. His paternal aunt Holika gained a boon to create fire and make it into ashes. She was directed to kill Prahalad. Holika took Prahalad in her lap to kill him. But Prahalad chanted and prayed to Lord Vishnu, immediately Holika was burnt into ashes. Since then Holi is celebrated as the festival of colors as a mark of success over evil.
Hiranyakashap angered by this act asked Prahalad to show Lord Vishnu. He answered he is everywhere and in the all-over universe.
Overwhelmed by his answer he demanded aggressively to show him in the pillar and broke the pillar with Gadha (mace)and Lord Vishnu came out from the Pillar with a half-lion head and half-human body on Vaisakha Shukla Chaturdasi on Saturday Swathi Nakshatra before sunset as Narasimha Swamy. He is the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu in Das Avatar in Satya Yug.
After coming out from the pillar immediately he lifted Demon Hiranyankashap on his lap and stood on the frame of the door, dragged his intestine with his nails, and killed him. Since then it is celebrated as Narasimha Jayanthi. Devotees perform sadhana with Red Sandalwood mala for his blessings and Siddhi.
The Lineage of God Kuldevta started with Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy. Prior to it, the custom of Kuldevta is not prominent. During Navaratri, devotees observe fasting for nine days on the tenth-day parayana means offering food to Brahmins and also Dakshina clothes, fruits, books, umbrellas, and footwear. Offering Poha and preparing various dishes with Poha is most important.
Some devotees observe fast by eating poha for nine days. At least on Narasimha Jayanthi they offer and eat poha for his blessings. Eating Rice flakes on Chaturdasi removes obstacles and increases wealth. Poha is mixed with milk and sugar, poha mixed in curd and Sugar, poha mixed with Tamarind water, salt, and sugar, Poha fried with added masala, Poha Vada is a holy traditional dish offered to Narasimha Swamy and the same is distributed among devotees. The next day is Vaishaka Shukla Purnima celebrated as Kurma Jayanthi which is the Second incarnation of Lord Vishnu in Satyug.
Chinnamastha Jayanthi 14/5/22
Lord Vishnu performed Chinnamastha Sadhana to take an avatar as Narasimha Swamy to kill demon Hiranyakashyap. It is called Vishnu Upasitha Chinnamastha Sadhana. Therefore on Narasimha Jayanthi Chinnamastha Jayanthi is also celebrated. Devi Chinnamastha is the seventh Dasa Mahavidya and it is performed to get over ego and gain the blessings of Gurudev.
It is also useful to gain knowledge in Parad Vigyan. Further, there are many benefits to this sadhana. The tricky point is Chinnamastha is having Jaya and Vijaya as her supporters. In order to kill dwarapalakas Jay and Vijay, Lord Vishnu performed Chinnamastha Sadhana and cut his head and kept Lion’s head and Narasimha Avatar is first with a half-human body.
Ahobil mutt, Simhachalaman, Dharmapuri and Yadgir Gutta, and many other Narasimha Swamy temples are famous in India.
Kurma Jayanthi 15/5/22 Sunday.
Vaishakha Shukla Purnima is Kurma Jayanthi as Lord Vishnu incarnated as the second Avatar. It is noted that during the churning of Ksheer Samudra Mandara Mountain fallen and Lord Vishnu as Kurma (tortoise) lifted and supported till the completion of the churning. Sri Kurmam temple is famous in Telangana.
